Its raining.....what a shock.

So today I am recovering from our anniversary dinner, [which technically was August 18th]. I tried Escargot, and I have to be honest it is now on my list of things not to try again. Jonothan asked me how I could eat sushi or oysters but not snail - I told him that I wouldn't run into a piece of sushi or an oyster in a garden. LOL That and they were the largest snails I have ever seen. The whole point of the episode was that I tried something new.

As you can tell from my post title it is raining here [although its not men] :). This summer could be characterized as the summer of rain. So basically this year 2/4 seasons have been really wet. The only thing NH has going for it is summer and fall, and the weather is messing up summer.

Since its raining here, I think the plans are for us to have a cozy day at home - Killing nazi's. You can thank Call of Duty 4 World at War.

So I think for dinner tonight we are either going to have lamb chops with potato soup or lamb curry with rice. I can't make up my mind, however I am leaning towards the lamb curry so we will see.

Being an Island....

"All mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated...As therefore the bell that rings to a sermon, calls not upon the preacher only, but upon the congregation to come: so this bell calls us all: but how much more me, who am brought so near the door by this sickness....No man is an island, entire of itself...any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."
                                         ---- John Dunne, Meditation XVII

This might seem like a strange quote to start a post with, but at this early hour or late I suppose depending on your point of view, it seems oddly apt. Tonight I spoke on Facebook with someone who I hadn't talked to in a while. We met in college, and become friends, but as life happens, we didn't really keep in touch. However tonight for some reason I felt compelled to talk to her.

Turns out she is in a similar situation that I was in 2 years ago. We both moved away from our families to places that we didn't know anyone, only to have our husbands be our only actual continuous face to face contact. At the time I was like everybody has someone else besides their spouse, and I spent the better part of a year feeling sorry for myself. Now she is in a similar position of being lonely, [granted I do not know the specifics] but what I realized is that we aren't all that different, we go through the same experiences, maybe at different times, but at the core we are all the same, wondering about jobs, relationships, babies.

Updates

So technically I haven't updated this site in almost a year, which is why I decided to updated it tonight [or technically today]. So then its not a year since this blog was updated.

Since the last one,  things have changed. Jonothan and I are still living in NH, with no immediate plans to evacuate. :) I finished my paralegal program, and have been working as a criminal defense paralegal since September of last year.

We have had tons of visitors! Family and friends from Texas over the past year have come at a pretty steady rate, seems there's something in the water in New Hampshire.

The Miami Dolphins- Heroes to Non Patriot Fans

The Miami Dolphins beat the New England Patriots 38-13. What more can I say- the team who finished 1-15 beat the 18-1 team. Although I didn't get to watch the game, hearing the news still made my day. Being an avid Cowboys fan, its not that I hate the NE Patriot so its mostly, their fans that really make it hard to cheer for them. And living up here in New England its hard, because everyone and their grandmother loves the NE Patriots, we don't get this good news often.

Annoying fan season here is always going on from the Red Sox, then to the Patriots, the Celtics, and the Bruins- its hard to get away from stupid fans.

I'm glad that Miami won, plus their logo is a little scary, the dolphin is usually a friendly animal (Flipper anyone?), but this one has a scary look in its eye, like its got murder on the brain. Like on that episode of the Simpsons were the dolphins come back, and make people move to the ocean.
This is by far the best team logo

A Little Political Humor

I got a good chuckle outta this one.

Look at you Pikachu

If Jiroko had a catchprase- it would be Look at you Pikachu.  Pam's would be highly offensive to your sensibilities trust me. Mine would be where's the food?

My good mexiCAN buddy Pam and Jiroko are studying back in texas, and I am studying here in New Hampshire, while chatting on facebook. So we came up with the 3 musketeers of studying.
Turns out there are two things that really mean 3 musketeers, the candy and the novel.  But I also did a search for puppies because I like them more.

I met Jiroko  at college, she is the hardest working smart person I know. A lot of the time really smart people don't study that much but boy howdy, she put everyone to shame studying! Lastly, Pam the hands, I met her through Jiroko when she was getting married. She's the SIL, she's pretty cool if you like being touched all the time, in a way that makes you feel dirty, and full of shame. hehe.
So we are the three puppies- I don't like 3 Musketeers, and the Leo DiCaprio movie Man in the Iron Mask was bad. So the PUPPIES WIN!  That and Pam and Jiroko are super cute.

Best.Comic.Strips.Ever.

Get Fuzzy is the best comic strip ever! Its the only one that I actually make an effort to read, well Foxtrot is pretty hilarious too.

See what I mean, these are funny.  What's better than a psychotic cat, a slow- witted but well meaning dog,  and the Fox family.  Sometimes there's nothing better than a good chuckle to make you feel better, and I always get them from these two comics.  Bucky is by far the most amazing cat, a siamese who hates primates, and chickens.

Does anyone else have favorite comics? Not that anyone other than a couple of people read this blog.
